Hedland Civil Engineering Ltd (HCE) was founded in 1998 by Mr Idris Watkins B.Sc. (Hons) C.Eng. M.I.C.E. 

 

We are based in Newport, Gwent and operate along the M4 corridor in South Wales, and extend North to the Heads of the Valley road.  We have a workforce of directly employed, highly skilled and experienced operatives, supplemented by specialist labour only sub-contractors.

 

Hedland Civil Engineering is a registered company under ISO9001:2015 for the provision of Civil Engineering and Construction Services, and we are a SSIP worksafe contractor.  We have a record of delivering high quality projects safely, on time and within budget.  Our approach is proactive, and we always work on an honest, open and professional basis, to the mutual benefit of client and contractor.

FEASIBILITY STUDIES

The Estimating and Quantity Surveying departments of Hedland provide a professional service and are available to assist clients at the earliest stage of a project.  Our staff are able to provide budget costing and advice to clients on issues relating to a proposed project providing guidance from inception, through design, to completion.

 

DESIGN & BUILD FOR COMMERCIAL / INDUSTRIAL FACILITIES

Hedland has established extensive expertise in the Design and Build of Commercial and Industrial facilities.  We have completed projects, as main contractor, valued in excess of £1.5 million.  We have Design Consultants that regularly work for us on Design & Build Contracts.

 

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Hedland provides Project Management solutions for clients to ensure fast tracking of projects and providing value-engineering solutions.  We use Project Managment Software to produce programmes, critical paths, cash flow forecasts and other information to meet the needs of our clients.

 

SITE INVESTIGATION & CAD SERVICES

Hedland has the expertise to offer CAD services using the latest technology.  This enables surveys and value-engineering option studies to be undertaken, thus establishing the most cost effective solution for any project, as well as developing accurate information for monitoring both cost and progress.

 

FULL BUDGET COSTING SERVICE

Our Estimating and Quantity Surveying Dept. provide a professional service to clients in the manner in which they handle enquiries and present cost data.  They are happy to provide costing advice and repeatedly provide cost-saving ideas to assist in the development of a project.  Cost tracking of projects during construction ensures accurate budgetary control and accurate projection of the final account figure to the client.  Hedland keeps up to date with the latest equipment and technology available, together with latest price information.

 

GROUNDWORKS

Hedland has extensive experience of commercial, industrial and public funded schemes, having regularly completed groundwork packages for Main Contractor Group companies.  The Site Management of Hedland ensure that the project is undertaken to the highest safety standards, whilst at the same time, maintaining quality and meeting time requirements.

 

CIVIL ENGINEERING

Hedland has sucessfully undertaken bulk earthworks, large reinforced concrete structures, drainage and road construction.  We work with our specialist suppliers for formwork, piling, shoring and excavation support, to ensure works are carried out in a safe and speedy manner.  Our civil engineering expertise has enabled the company to successfully complete projects for Associated British Ports (ABP) on all their South Wales Dock areas, Cognis Chemicals, Borden Chemicals, Interbrew UK, Continental Teeves, Island Steel and SCA Packaging.
